Back in the saddle

Steve---Double-nacAfter 6 or 7 weeks off with our wedding and honeymoon, I was itching to get back on the bike and start riding again!  It feels weird having a little time off and not actually being injured, but it still means you're a little rusty on that first freestyle session.  I'm glad I surprised myself and had a great ride!

I headed over to Adam Bayard's place in Brisbane for a quick ride with the usual band of riders who are there.. Sturto, Lance, Sauly, Lindores and the gang.  Also, Emma McFerran was there getting her groove on and busting out some pretty good tricks too.

I felt a little rusty with an overjump on one of the dirt jumps when I was just testing the suspension out that I just had fixed up by DB Race Suspension, but it wasn't too long before I hit the ramp and felt good again.

I finished the ride up and headed over to Mt Cootha for a mountain bike trail ride to get my fitness back up (and work some of the pizza and pasta dishes from Italy off) and the day ended not as I hoped.  Ryan and I rode the trails in fine form, taking on tree's and hitting some good drop offs, but it all went pear shaped when the shadows drew longer over the bush trails and we were on our way back.  I reached for my camelpak hose with one hand while I was coming down the last fire trail.  As I did, I rolled over a hump and hit a stray rock and managed to swap out and land on some sharp rocks with my elbow.  At first I figured it was just a little gravel rash, but after blood poured out I realised I actually took a good gouge of skin out of my elbow.  So a few days to let that heal up and I'll be back on the bike again.
