Today I had my follow-up appointment with my surgeon to see how my collarbone has progressed. I knew in myself that it is coming along well but it's always good to see a surprised look on a doctors face.
I had a fair bit of pain in the Sternoclavicular joint since the operation and I was getting over it until Rachael and I went camping for Easter weekend with friends but after playing a little beach footy everything felt way better. After catching a wayward throw with my arm out stretched (which I probably shouldn't have done) it actually felt a lot better in the SC joint. So stuffing around can actually help I figure.
I've been doing physio all week since and it's felt great, building up the weights each time without pain so everything has been coming along sweet. A little bit of swelling but the Q-Magnets has kept that to a very minimum and keep it pretty much pain free. Stoked!
So I saw the doctor today, less than 3 weeks after surgery and he said I'm ready to start riding. Well, albeit just going slow and probably not jumping but he's pretty impressed with the progress. I was supposed to be doing a show next weekend in Indonesia with the guys from FMX4Ever which I was really looking forward too, but unfortunately it didn't happen. In all that was good for my healing though so I have a couple more weeks to let it heal up fully and be 100% for the next shows in May.
So everything is on track and it was only a very minor bump in the road with this collarbone... just a sore inconvenience for 2010.
