It's been many years since I've had to build a ramp, but after selling my trailer ramp on the weekend it was time to replace it with a brand-spanker. After some troubles it has actually turned out to be one of the best ramps I've ever jumped!
For the past year I've had Zac McK on my case wanting me to sell my trailer ramp... and I refused all the time, because it took so damn long to build it, I didn't want to sell it. Well, logic finally got the better of me, and since building the trailer ramp I've used it all of twice to tow it to a show, one was Cairns (yeah a real long drive) and the other was the Gold Coast for the huge Indy shows a few years ago.
So basically I had a good trailer ramp sitting there essentially not doing what it's real job was, so I figured it was time to sell it to someone who might be able to do more with it, so Scott came and picked her up and I was left without a ramp.
Man, what a struggle it was to get steel - the shops were going to take 2 weeks to get it delivered, and then other courier's only had 6 metre long trucks, not 8 metres which the lengths of steel were to come from Gympie to Tiaro. Then the two lengths of steel were rolled differently to each other, and neither of them were 9.1 metre radius I asked for.
Ergh, so after plenty of work and a few days, I managed to build the ramp and turns out it's one of the best ramps I've ridden - so smooth. It also comes down to cleaning up the run up too. One other problem, I was dragging the ramp from the shed to the paddock and managed to hit a stump... Yeah, kind of bent a little support. All good, it was only there for good looks anyway haha.
